Why Choose the JRTI School of Practical Nursing?
The School of Practical Nursing at James Rumsey Technical Institute has over a 45 year history and is taught by faculty with a combined total of over 80 years of experience in medical-surgical nursing, emergency nursing, critical care, management, surgical, pediatrics and obstetrical nursing. We are continually updating our curriculum and our facilities to ensure the best possible education for our students.
We offer training in unique areas such as employee health / physician office nursing and train our nurses on specialized and state of the art equipment that LPNs are expected to use in the field. We ensure that our graduates are the most well trained nurses on the market. Equipment includes the Afinion AS100 analyzer for A1c testing, Alere Cholestech LDX cholesterol machine (pictured left), urine analysis machines, centrifuges, drug screening kits and rapid strep test kits (all generously donated to us by the Purcellville Family Medicine clinic).
Additional training includes basic nursing skills, assessments, emergency management and leadership skills. Our nursing students are sent to clinical areas including acute care hospitals, wound centers, respiratory therapy departments, pediatric units, OB units, medical units, the OR, ER, ICU and many others to ensure the most comprehensive training available.
